Hill House

MATT is undertaking a uniquely challenging residential project that merges landscape and design to create an environmentally-conscious and efficient living space. Designed into the natural topography of a ridgeline overlooking the ocean, the home will blend into the ridgetop view and disappear into the landscape. The entire house will reside beneath a continuous green roof garden.

Broad Beach Residence

Given the site’s proximity to the ocean, the Broad Beach Residence project began with close attention to the grading and drainage, and its effect on the surrounding environment. The residence is a unique martini glass shape, with the base of the glass bordering Broad Beach Road. Housing a three-car garage, staff living quarters and a gym above, and four guest bedrooms plus a laundry room below, the base’s all-glass front face opens onto the pool deck.

The Strand Residence

MATT came on board to renovate the Strand Residence, located in one of the South Bay’s most desirable beachfront neighborhoods. Joan Behnke updated the interior with finishes that transform the building from a home into an experience. The new design showcases the owner’s vast art collection. Finishes include Marmorino Venetian plaster complemented by clean wood, giving the space a modern feel.

El Rancho Escondido

El Rancho Escondido or “Hidden Ranch” is a sprawling 1930s estate tucked in a high valley of Catalina Island. Its mission-style white walls and clay tile roof represent an Southern California’s iconic architectural history and hold cherished memories for the current generations of owners, who commissioned a delicate restoration that honors the estate’s legacy while upgrading existing structures to current seismic and safety standards

Bel Air Residence

This residence is an expansive luxury getaway in Bel Air. MATT Construction navigated the 2:1 grade on this challenging hillside, working with government agencies and within restricted hours to build this modernist retreat on an expedited schedule.
